Kombucha and Then Some: The Power of Natural Fermented Drinks

Let us introduce you to the magical world of fermentation!

Fermentation is an ancient technique that utilizes friendly bacteria to preserve food and make delicious fizzy drinks.

In this class, you’ll learn about beneficial bacteria and how it can be used to achieve optimum health. We’ll demonstrate simple ways to brew kombucha and naturally fizzy sodas. After this class, you won’t want to go back to sugary soft drinks!

Kombucha is:

- A healthy substitute for commercial soft drinks.

- Easy to brew at home; it only takes 20 minutes to start a new batch!

- Cheaper to produce at home than to continually buy at the store.

- Fun to make, with limitless potential for experimentation.

- Gluten-free, Vegan, Paleo, and mindful eating friendly!

We now know that most autoimmune disorders, digestive disorders, acne, mood swings, depression, anxiety, and many more conditions are rooted in the gut. This inspired Chef Anastasia Vera to create the Gut Healing Cooking Experience workshop, where she teaches about gut friendly foods.

Chef Anastasia was born in a rural area of Russian Siberia. Her grandparents farmed and grew everything they ate: “my first memories were of helping to pick seasonal fruits and vegetables,” she shares. “[I remember] feeding our livestock and helping to preserve what we ate. We were … canning, preserving, and fermenting foods for winter, and lived mostly off of our land's produce.”

Anastasia moved to The United States in 2015 and immediately realized that she was passionate about baking. Initially, she taught herself to bake by watching educational videos, but soon desired to learn more. Her new-found passion took her to Italy where she attended Chef Nina Tarasova's class at Hangar 78 school, then to Spain where she attended Chef Yohan Ferrant’s Baking School Barcelona Sabadell. Finally, she rounded out her baking education by taking gluten free and vegan baking classes with international chef Ksenia Nosikova. Soon enough, Anastasia hearkened back to her origins of a fresh, minimally processed diet.

Her culinary travels and education inspired Chef Anastasia to become a Culinary Health Coach. She started to implement food healing practices into hers and her husband's lifestyles. Her husband suffered from allergies, acid reflux, and IBS, all auto-immune related conditions; within two months of implementing these changes, her husband’s conditions dramatically improved. The benefits of her lifestyle changes also helped Chef Anastasia to her reverse PCOS.  She now helps others to transform their eating habits into healthier ones, thereby transforming their lives.
